The story of @GeorgiaHSCheer began on November 11, 2015 with the idea to provide coverage for the Georgia High School (GHSA) State Cheerleading Championships. It began on Twitter as @GHSA_Cheer and the account was shared with a few friends and team accounts. Coverage of A-Public, A-Private, and COED Finals began on Friday while watching the live stream and positive live tweeting occurred for each team's performance. Coverage continued in person on Saturday November 12, 2015 for 2A-7A All-Girl Finals and the response was overwhelming with the account gaining over 500 followers on the first weekend. The account slowly gained popularity during the off-season to roughly 1,000 as the start of 2016 season arrived. Coverage was expanded to report results of regular season competitions where we could attend and what was reported to us by coaching friends, athletes, and parents throughout the state. Due to circumstances beyond our control, access to @GHSA_Cheer was lost and we were forced to abandon the account in September 2016 and which saw the establishment of @GeorgiaHSCheer. As the new account gained popularity, the coverage expanded to including Instagram and Facebook accounts, and various projects to celebrate ALL cheerleaders in Georgia!
April 2022 saw the addition of www.georgiahscheer.com which has been a vision and project that has been in the works from the first days in 2015. The purpose and goal of this site it so celebrate and catalog Georgia High School Cheerleading's rich history!
As we are in our 8th full year of covering GHSA Cheerleading, we are the state's leader in coverage, content, and celebration of the sport!
